Stability for the industry: swiss interior expo 2026 brings together Swissness, decision-makers and a clear market focus under one roof

2026-03-04

As Switzerland's only trade fair for furnishing and kitchen, swiss interior expo brings together the relevant players in the industry – with a consistent focus on the Swiss market. The event is now more necessary than ever, as swiss interior expo provides important impetus with its precisely targeted visitor groups from the retail, planning and contract sectors, as well as its effective special formats.

After a challenging year in 2025, the Swiss kitchen market remains under pressure. At around 130,000 kitchens, the market volume remained at the previous year's level. While the renovation of individual kitchens saw slight growth, the commercial market was characterised by declining volumes and strong price pressure. A more differentiated picture is emerging for 2026 and 2027: the leading association Küche Schweiz forecasts growth of up to four per cent. The market volume could rise to around 132,000 kitchens in 2026 and around 134,000 kitchens in 2027. The main impetus is coming from the renovation segment, individual kitchen projects and the mid-range to high-end owner-occupied housing sector. In this volatile environment, platforms that create market transparency, shorten decision-making processes and bring together relevant players in a targeted manner are gaining in importance.

The furniture and interior design industry will find all this at the second edition of swiss interior expo, taking place in Bern from 9 to 11 November 2026. The event sees itself explicitly as a Swiss industry platform that brings together kitchen and furnishing in one hall and is consistently designed for high-level efficiency: over three days, the trade fair brings all the relevant experts together in one place. The focus is on decision-makers from the kitchen, furniture and household appliance trade, interior designers and architects, carpenters, specialist planners, developers, investors and general contractors.  This year, the focus is particularly on property developers and project managers: a decisive lever when kitchens and living environments are increasingly being considered as an integral part of planning.

Swissness as an industry advantage
"Swissness" has long since developed into a reliable seal of quality. In the kitchen and furnishing  sector, it stands for precision, durability, high-quality workmanship and reliability in project management as well as – depending on the company – short supply chains and sustainable procurement. Especially in the commercial sector, where adherence to deadlines, quality assurance and predictability are key criteria, origin and predictability become strategic arguments.

This is also emphasised by Christopher Boss, Managing Director of the organiser trendfairs: "For companies that want to actively expand their market position in the Swiss kitchen and furnishing market, swiss interior expo is a strategic lever: concentrated decision-maker presence, short distances and a platform designed for efficiency and concrete business impulses."

Special formats lebensraum and stage: minimum effort, maximum effect
Beyond the classic trade fair presentation, swiss interior expo offers curated formats that create additional visibility and provide inspiration in terms of content, thus offering a clear USP compared to other trade fairs. The special show lebensraum provides particular inspiration in this regard: Here, the kitchen, dining and living areas merge into a coordinated overall presentation – the focus is on the live experience, immersing visitors in real living environments. Lebensraum provides creative input for retailers and opens up additional presentation and sales opportunities for exhibitors. The stage complements the trade fair concept as a further core element: it creates added value through knowledge transfer and networking – with daily programme items, trends and innovations, as well as dialogue formats between decision-makers, trade visitors and the trade press.

Strong together: networking as a competitive advantage
The Swiss furniture and interior design industry is facing a period of restructuring. Increasing price pressure, consolidation trends and changing requirements in the contract and project business call for clear positioning and a unified market presence. To survive in this environment, companies must offer more than just product quality – visibility, partnerships and strategic coordination along the entire value chain are also required.

Walter Pretelli, Managing Director of Einrichten Schweiz, emphasises that the industry needs to close ranks: "In line with our vision, Einrichten Schweiz is wholeheartedly committed to high-quality and passionate interior design in Switzerland. We see our mission as connecting the interior design industry. A trade fair serves precisely this purpose, offering the industry a platform for networking and successful business." The desire to engage in dialogue with other companies also has a spatial component, as Peter Achermann, Managing Director of Der Kreis, the association for kitchen specialists, emphasises: "swiss interior expo 2026 brings the industry together – for us (...) an important place to exchange ideas, discover trends and actively shape the Swiss kitchen market." This makes the trade fair a visible symbol of an industry that takes responsibility – for quality, competitiveness and the future of the Swiss furniture and kitchen market.

Swissness, a focus on decision-makers and curated formats make swiss interior expo 2026 a platform with a clear strategic function in the Swiss kitchen and furniture market. Established in 2024, the industry platform stands for continuity and a modern trade fair concept that specifically focuses on national market consolidation, qualified trade visitors and efficient business development. For companies looking to consolidate or expand their presence in the Swiss market, swiss interior expo offers structured access to relevant decision-makers.
